Caitlin is a 15 year old Australian girl, who we are in awe of.
In August 2013, Caitlin’s six year old brother, Tommy, went into respiratory arrest one morning. The family’s neighbour and the paramedics were able to bring Tommy back to life with CPR. He was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. He had intensive chemotherapy, with the intent to undergo a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, five days before Christmas 2013, it was found that the cancer had spread to his brain. The doctors have termed Tommy as terminal and are hoping palliative radiation will give him time to spend with his family.
It is a devastating time, but selflessly, Caitlin has started fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation in an effort to make sure no other family has to go through the same trauma.
Caitlin has decided to shave her head as part of the World’s Greatest Shave. 52 Livesthinks she is amazing - how many teenage girls would agree to do such a thing?
We want to make sure Caitlin doesn’t just meet her fundraising target – we want her to smash it. And so, we have also enlisted the help of a good friend, Greig Trout, of 101 Things to Do When You Survive.
Greig is a two time cancer survivor who is travelling the world spreading messages of hope to people battling this disease. When we told him about Caitlin, he generously agreed to shave his head at the same time to help her raise more cash - thanks Greig!
Greig is currently in Peru, but is going to attempt to synchronise the big shave with Caitlin. We'll keep you posted on the date.
