This week, we’d like to help a 19-year-old girl called Jo and her little boy, who is two.
Jo became pregnant when she was 16. She was still at college and living with her mum, her mum’s boyfriend and her little brother. After her baby was born, the house was very overcrowded. Jo’s younger brother has additional needs, and he was struggling to cope with so many people in the house.
Jo’s mum and her boyfriend got into an argument about the living situation and it ended with Jo and her baby having to leave. They spent months in temporary accommodation before finally moving into a permanent home last month.
Before she had her baby, Jo had been saving up, hoping to buy a car when she was older. But she used every penny she had to buy furniture (mostly from a local charity shop). She couldn’t afford flooring, so the bedrooms, stairs and living room have hard, bare floors.
Jo is raising her baby alone, and she has nobody in a position to help financially. She worries about her toddler falling on the hard concrete floors and how cold the flat will be during the winter.
We’d love to help Jo and give her and her son a wonderful start in their new home. Every penny you donate will be used to help them.
