#543 Jake

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a 13 year old boy called Jake, and his parents who both have cancer.

Jake’s mum has bowel cancer and is having chemotherapy. His dad was also diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. His treatment has finished for the time being while he’s monitored but the whole ordeal is affecting him very deeply. He has been struggling with his mental health, and often finds it hard to leave the house or manage everyday tasks.

Years of illness have also left the family struggling financially, but they have always been too proud to ask for help. Their support worker is now helping them apply for the benefits they may be entitled to, but this will take time.

The family have asked us not to share photographs of their home or garden. Asking for help has been difficult for them, and we want to respect their privacy. But things have got on top of them...their home has slowly been deteriorating over the years, and their garden is severely overgrown. There are lots of things Jake needs as well, but with his mum now on statutory sick pay, money is even tighter.

They have been through so much over the past few years, and we’d love to do something to help.

We’d like to pay to have their garden cleared, replace some of their broken furniture, replace their flooring and provide Jake with school uniform and clothes. We'd also like to help sort out Jake's bedroom - it needs decorating, and also some storage furniture.

It will be a huge weight lifted from them, at a time when they really need some kindness.
