#538 Kai and Ruby

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we'd like to help a 10-year-old boy called Kai and his little sister, Ruby, who is 6.

Kai and Ruby were removed from their mum’s care due to neglect and are now living with their dad, Martin.

Martin struggles with his mental health, is very isolated and has no family support. He was living in a one bedroom flat but, now that he is caring for the children, they’ve moved into a council house together.

Kai has significant additional needs and is on a reduced timetable at school, so he spends a lot of time at home.

The council house they’ve moved into is unfurnished and the old flooring has been ripped out.

Kai was nominated by his school’s family support worker. She said it’s a really critical time in Kai’s development and his support needs are only increasing, so the environment at home needs to feel safe and calm for him.

“Kai does not communicate much, so sharing his feelings can be challenging for him, but both children are so excited to have a bedroom of their own. Your help will make it so much more special.”

We'd like to help with flooring, bedding, toys and other things they need for the home.
