This week, we’d like to help Bea and her baby, who have just moved into a new house with nothing in it.
Bea is 24 and became a mum last year. She was in an abusive relationship at the time. Her partner controlled so much of her day-to-day life...who she could speak to, what she could do, where she could go. He is now in custody for a serious assault on his previous partner.
A few days after giving birth, Bea’s mum sadly died. Bea's mum was her main source of love and support and she was devastated.
Bea was suddenly feeling very alone, but she poured all her energy into her daughter. Her social worker said every decision Bea has made since then has been to help her baby. She moved three hours away to stay in a specialist mum-and-baby unit where she could get support, and then lived for six months with her ex-partner's sister because it meant some stability for her and her baby.
Over the past year, she has attended every single appointment made for her, and both of them are doing well. They have just been placed in social housing...but it’s empty.
Bea doesn't have her lovely mum by her side anymore, and she has no help from the baby’s father. But we want to make sure she knows she’s not alone. With your help, we’d like to give them both the best possible start in this new home.
