This week, we’d like to help a 13-year-old boy called Aiden.
Aiden recently had to move with his mum and brother to a completely new area to escape domestic violence. He witnessed his mum being abused by her partner many times and was also hit by him.
After the move, Aiden struggled at school and became really withdrawn. He found it really hard to talk about what had happened to him. He’s now attending a small alternative provision and is on a waiting list for counselling. Things are getting better for him, but this school is only temporary and he might have to move back to a mainstream school soon.
Before they left, Aiden played rugby for a local club. It was a big part of his life and he loved being part of a team. But since moving, his mum hasn’t been able to afford the registration fees or kit to get him playing again.
Aiden’s mum cares for him, his three-year-old brother, and her own mum (who has a terminal illness) on her own. She’s really trying to create a more stable life for her boys, but money is very tight.
We’d love to help make things feel more normal again for Aiden and make sure he has the support he needs.
We’d like to raise money to cover his rugby fees and kit so he can get back to playing, and to keep this in place for as long as possible, so he doesn’t have to worry about it stopping when a new season starts or when he grows out of his boots. When there are rugby trips, we’d like to make sure he can go. And we’d also like to support any other clubs or activities he and his brother would like to take part in, so they both have opportunities outside the home.
Some extra support will make a real difference for Aiden, and we want to make sure money isn’t a barrier to him taking part in the activities he loves.
