This week, we’d like to help four children in need of some kindness. They were nominated by their social worker after she visited their home and was concerned about the way they were living and the impact it’s having on them.
Their mum, Simone, and her partner both have learning difficulties. The two older children also have learning difficulties and as well as suspected undiagnosed autism. The eldest child in particular has very low self-esteem and is often withdrawn and sad, which they think is linked to the family’s living conditions.
Simone was sexually assaulted when she was younger, which has left her with a lot of trauma and poor mental health.
They live in a council house that’s in severe disrepair. Most of the children sleep on airbeds, they have one sofa for the 6 of them (which is broken), the carpets are worn and ripped and in one of the children’s bedrooms there is no flooring at all. There is also no storage for their belongings.
The children are now under a Child in Need plan and social workers are involved, but at the moment some help with improving their living conditions would make an immediate difference for them.
Their house does not feel like a home right now but with your help, we can change that. A little bit kindness could make a huge difference to the whole family’s wellbeing.
