This week we’d like to help Lila, a 16-year-old girl who sadly lost her mum, went on to live in a hostile home, and is now starting over again.

After losing her mum, Lila went to live with her dad and his girlfriend. Lila was regularly shouted at by the girlfriend, restricted from everyday things like accessing food or seeing friends. She felt isolated and scared all the time, and missed her mum very badly.

It reached the point that her dad decided to take Lila and leave. They've been staying in temporary accommodation and it’s been really challenging. He lived under the control of his girlfriend for years and had no bank account or money of his own, and they left with nothing.

He is trying really hard to build a life for them. He’s juggling work and childcare, and doing his best to help Lila. And despite everything, Lila has been incredible. Her social worker said she has been going to school, having counselling, and has openly shared that what she wants most is to feel safe, loved and understood. She’s a wonderful girl who deserves so much better than what she’s had to deal with.

Lila and her dad have just moved into a permanent council house, but they are starting from scratch. We’d love to help them get set up and give Lila the safe, comfortable home she deserves.
