This week we’d like to help Winnie, who just gave birth to a baby boy.
Winnie struggled with her mental health for most of her pregnancy and has been getting support from the perinatal mental health team. But because of how unwell she is, she can’t be left on her own with her children at the moment.
Her husband usually works as a Deliveroo driver, but he had to stop work a few months ago to care for Winnie and the three children (who are 2, 5 and 7). One of the children also has additional needs and needs a lot of extra support.
They’ve fallen behind on rent and have used up all their savings.
Winnie’s husband is doing everything he can to try to look after his family. He’s been attending parenting courses and trying to learn everything he can so he can support them in the best way. But he is under so much pressure and is having to decide between paying bills or buying the essentials his family needs.
We’d like to provide some things for the children’s bedrooms, provide some sensory toys so they can create a calm space for their child with additional needs, as well as some help with groceries and bills while they get through this tough patch.
Their teachers, social worker, and health workers all describe them as a very deserving family, saying a bit of kindness would make such a difference for them all.
