This week, we’d like to help Arthur and his family.
Arthur is eight years old. He lives with his 14-year-old sister, who has very complex and life-threatening medical needs, and his three year old brother, who has additional needs.
Because of her specialised equipment, the largest bedroom in their small flat is entirely needed for his sister. The boys sleep with their mum in the living room.
The family were nominated to us by a support worker from a children’s charity, who told us how difficult life is for them at the moment. Their mum is a single parent and a full-time carer. She wasn’t receiving any financial support until recently, so they have been struggling for a long time.
The house feels overcrowded and stressful.
With your help, we’d love to provide bunk beds and mattresses so we can turn the small second bedroom into a lovely space for Arthur and his brother, a sofa bed for the mum so she can be more comfortable in the living room, dining room chairs so they can sit together for meals times, storage to help make their home a bit more manageable and some other bedding, toys and household essentials. We’d also like to pay for a special day out for Arthur and also some kind of treat for his mum too.
These things would make a huge difference to Arthur and his family – giving the boys proper beds, giving mum somewhere comfortable to sleep, and making their small home a calmer, more settled place for everyone.
