This week, we’d like to help Rae, a single mum of three children who all have additional needs.
Rae recently collapsed and needed an ambulance. She was told she wouldn’t be able to drive for six months. For most people, that would be tough – but for Rae, who lives in a council house in a tiny rural village with no public transport, it’s been completely life-changing.
Her eldest is an adult with autism and severe anxiety. Her middle child also has autism and hasn’t been able to go to school because of severe anxiety. She’s under the care of CAMHS after experiencing suicidal thoughts. And her youngest has been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, and is also missing a lot of school.
Their dad left a few years ago so Rae manages all of this on her own. She has no family nearby and no one to help.
Not being able to drive means Rae is more isolated than ever. She’s been doing her best to keep everything going, but even simple things like getting to medical appointments now means expensive taxi rides.
Her family support worker is trying to get them moved to a larger town, but in the meantime Rae really needs help.
She is struggling for money, her fridge is broken, her children need equipment for school and there are lots of other things that would help to make their lives easier.
We’d like to help.
