#421 Brendan

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we’re trying to help a single dad called Brendan who has just taken on the care of his two children, who both have additional needs.

The children’s mum wasn’t able to look after them properly and there were concerns about their welfare. Social services got involved and the children are now living with Brendan.

Brendan had to leave his job to look after the children full-time, as they both have a lot of medical appointments and require a lot of care.

He was living in shared accommodation which wasn’t suitable for children so they were placed in temporary housing and are just about to move into a two bedroom flat that will be their permanent home. Brendan feels embarrassed about the state of their home. He said: “Coming from shared accommodation, I don’t have anything. My children will always come first but it has been stressful and I worry a lot about not having furniture.”

They were nominated by the children’s social worker, who said: “This is Brendan’s first home with the children. He is doing really well and engaging with services but the new flat is sparse and there are lot of things they need to make it a proper home for the children.”

We'd like to help.

What We Did

We raised more than £3000 in donations and gifts to help Brendan and his two children.

Thanks to all of you, we were able to provide beds, mattresses, dining table and chairs, bedding, kitchenware and lots of other things for the home. We also paid for Brendan to have driving lessons, topped up their electricity and gas, and provided grocery vouchers to give them a bit of breathing room while they get settled in. Thank you for making their life so much better.
