#420 Dina

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a woman called Dina, who is 7 months pregnant and living in a cold, bare house.

Dina has mental health issues and is incredibly vulnerable. She was abused by her partner, and spent some time in a refuge before being rehoused.

But the house she has been placed in is appalling. It’s freezing cold, unfurnished and has concrete floors. She has no fridge, no washing machine, no cooking facilities and she's sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Dina’s social worker said:  “Dina gets very tearful when we talk about her living conditions. She can’t afford white goods or a proper bed or any of the things she needs for her unborn baby.”

She is under a lot of emotional stress and has no support. We’d like to provide all the essential things her and her baby need.

What We Need

1. Donations: We'll use your donations to provide the things Dina and her baby need. 100% of what you give will be used to help them. Donate now

What We Did

Thanks to all of you, she now has flooring, furniture, a bed, a cooker, a fridge, curtains, and everything she needs for her baby. We went to visit Dina and she gave us a tour of her flat so proudly, showing us all the amazing cards and gifts, and the baby blankets you knitted for her.

Her baby girl was 3 months old when we visited and is doing really well. Dina is still quite isolated and worries about being a good mum, but she is building a support network around her and is doing absolutely brilliantly.
Dina said that all she used to do was cry - but since 52 Lives and her social worker came into her life she now ‘just cries happy tears’.
We noticed a few other things she needed while we were there so are using some funds from the direct debits donations you make to buy her some extra bits. Thank you all so much for making her life so much better.
