This week, we’re trying to help a woman called Cathy and her 3 children.
Cathy and her family were left homeless after their landlord sold the property they were living in. They were placed in emergency accommodation and so decided to move to a new area where they had some extended family. They could only bring a small bag of clothes each so the children had to leave most of their belongings behind. They all slept on a relative’s kitchen floor until a council house became available.
Cathy’s partner was abusive to her and, after they moved, he started to hurt the children as well. He had a lot of weapons in the house so they were terrified to tell anyone what was going on.
He's been arrested so Cathy and the children are now safe. But they are living in a house with no carpet and the children don’t have any storage.
Cathy has been trying to save for the things they need, but isn’t able to work at the moment. She has osteoarthritis, and also struggles with depression and anxiety.
We’d like to help.
