#402 - A 14 year old girl

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a 14 year old girl and her mum, who are living in a damaged house filled with horrible memories.

The mum, Karen, was abused by her partner in the house over a long period of time. He was controlling and isolated her from her friends and family until she felt like she had no one. Her daughter witnessed a lot of what happened and she was emotionally abused as well, so she is on a child protection plan as a result.

Karen has now split up with her partner but she has been left in a very fragile mental state. She also has Crohn’s disease, which has been exacerbated by all the stress she’s been living with.

The relationship between Karen and her daughter has been really strained, but now that the partner is out of the picture, they are trying to rebuild it.

Her daughter’s social worker said: “The home they live in has many unhappy memories….there are punch holes in the wall, broken curtain rails hanging everywhere and broken furniture.”

The social worker reached out to see if we could help to repair and redecorate the walls, replace the broken furniture, and help to give them both a fresh start.
