#374 Gabby

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a woman called Gabby and her two year old son. When Gabby fell pregnant, her relationship with her family broke down and she had to move out. She went to live with her cousin and had the baby while she was staying there.

Gabby had undiagnosed post-natal depression and the relationship with her cousin also broke down. Gabby and her little boy ended up homeless.

They were placed in temporary accommodation and recently moved into a permanent housing association flat. Their social worker managed to provide them with a few essential things but – in her words – Gabby’s flat is ‘bleak’.

She worries about Gabby’s state of mind and also about her toddler running around on cold, hard floor. Gabby has now been diagnosed with depression and is going to be able to get the support she needs. With your help, we’d like to help create a lovely home for her and her son.

What We Need

1. Donations: We'll use your donations to carpet her flat and buy some of the furniture and other essentials they need. 100% of what you give will be used to help them.

2. Gifts from a wishlist: We've set up an Amazon wishlist with some bedding, homewares and toys. To buy a gift, click the link below and you will be taken to Amazon where you can choose a gift. It will be sent directly to Gabby (just click 'this is a gift' and choose the 'gift registry address' when you checkout).

3. Kind messages: To send a kind message for Gabby, please either write it in the form below and we will pass it along (your contact details will not be shared) or you can post it to: 52 Lives (Life 374), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT.

What We Did

Thanks to all of you, we have been able to provide Gabby and her son with everything they need – carpet, curtains, a sofa, wardrobes, toys, books, towels, cleaning equipment and some vouchers to help with groceries. Her support worker said Gabby seems so much happier and is really grateful to everyone who helped her. Thank you all so much!
