Request: Donations / Things for her home / New Home cards and messages

This week, we’d like to help a 22 year old woman called Carrie. Carrie’s mum died when she was 13 and so she moved in with her grandparents who have cared for her ever since. Carrie has struggled a lot with her mental health and they were always very supportive.

Her grandma died several years ago and her grandpa sadly passed away in August and so she is having to move out of her home (it was her grandpa’s council property).

It has been a huge adjustment for Carrie. It is the first time she has been alone and she is overwhelmed. She has managed to secure her own flat but a lot of her grandpa’s furniture was in disrepair and had to be thrown away, so her new flat is very bare. She is looking for work, but it is going to take a long time for her to be able to get the money together to get the things she needs.

Her support worker said: “Carrie can come off as hard or uncaring, but underneath she is so thoughtful and always worried she will let people down . She has shown resilience that I could not imagine within myself and she has huge potential.”

We’d like to help her get set up in her new home and give her the best possible start.
