#349 Children in need

Request: Crafts / Stationery / Donations / Kind messages

Summer holidays are almost here and, for families who are already struggling, it's going to be a really tough couple of months.

We'd like to help. We’re working with a small charity running holiday activity and food programmes to help families in need. Each week, children who usually qualify for free school meals will be able to come along to do arts & crafts, play games, and have a meal provided for them. It’s a fun day out, and also gives their parents a chance to learn more about the support that's available to them.

The sessions are fantastic but we’d like to help them go one step further. With your help, we’d like to provide some craft kits and games for the children to take home with them at the end of the day. It might seem like a small thing, but for the children receiving them, it most definitely isn’t. And to make things a little bit easier for the families, we’d also like to provide the children with some stationery for school.

What We Need

1. Donations: We'll use all of your donations to provide items for the children we're helping. You can donate online or by text using the details below.

2. Crafts/Toys/Stationary from a Wishlist: We've set up a wishlist filled with crafts, toys and stationery for the children. To buy something, please click the link below (just tick 'this is a gift' and select the 'gift registry address' when you checkout).

3. Kind messages: If you'd like to send a kind message to one of the families we're helping, please write it in the form below (your contact details will not be passed on) or you can post it to 52 Lives (349), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT.

What We Did

All of the items were bought form the wishlist and you donated funds for us to buy even more. All of those items helped to fill these rucksacks, which have been given to hundreds of children who attended the Holiday Activities and Food programme in Berkshire. Thanks to you, the children who attended got to go home with a rucksack filled with goodies.
Thank you to The Cowshed charity for running some of these amazing events and thank you to everyone who helped in some way. You’ve made a lot of children very happy.
