#339 Lydia

Request: Donations / Gifts / Messages

This week, we’d like to help a single mum called Lydia and her two children. Lydia’s partner was abusive and controlling for many years . She had a very high stress pregnancy with her daughter, who was born prematurely. Lydia had another baby a year later, and the abuse from her partner continued

When the children were still very young, Lydia fled with them to a refuge and hasn’t seen her ex-partner since.

They have moved around and are now settled in a flat in London. Lydia’s daughter has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and needs a high level of support. Her son has just been diagnosed with Tourette's syndrome and has aggressive outbursts, hurting his mum and breaking their things.

Lydia also has a health condition, and needs support from a carer who helps with some daily tasks.

They were nominated by a social worker, who recently did a home visit. She said: “Both wardrobes in the children's rooms are broken , the washing machine is broken, and there is no sofa. The children’s beds are broken and the floor is cold, as there is no carpet.”

We’d love to do what we can help make life better for this family.

After we shared Lydia’s story, you bought everything from her wishlist and donated almost £2000 to help her. It means we could provide a washing machine, fridge, sofa, beds, bedding and so much more. Lydia and her children have been through a terrible time, but your support and kindness has made life a little bit easier for them. Thank you so much!
