#336 Margaret

Request: Donations / Gifts / Messages

This week, we’d like to help a woman from Yorkshire called Margaret, who sadly lost her husband.

She has a teenage daughter who has been struggling with severe anxiety, to the point where she hasn’t been able to go to school. Margaret has depression, and has also been diagnosed with a kidney disease.

Support workers from the council have been trying to provide some emotional and practical help for the family, but they have reached the limit of what they are able to do.

One of her support workers said: “Margaret lives in a small cottage, but struggles to cope. They have no oven, no cooker, the home is in dire need of some paint, and the carpet has gotten so bad it needs to be ripped up. Money is tight for them and I’m not sure how much they both eat. We are really hoping that once their home is in better shape, they can try to move forward and look upwards.”

We’d like to help.

1. Donations: We'll use your donations to replace their carpet, to repair and paint the walls, buy a cooker - and anything else they need. 100% of what you give will be used to help this family. You can donate online or by text using the details below.

2. Gifts from a wishlist: We have set up a small wishlist with some things for the home, and a few gifts for Margaret and her daughter. To buy a gift, please click the link below and select 'Gift Registry Address' at checkout.

3. Kind messages: To send a kind message to Margaret and her daughter, please post it to: 52 Lives (Life # 336), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT. You can also email a message by writing it in the form below (your contact details will not be passed on).

What We Did

We raised enough funds to buy them a cooker, a freezer, curtains, new carpet, and gift cards so they can go shopping together and buy some new clothes. We also arranged for their living room to be painted.  It has made their cottage feel more like a home, and given them such a boost at a really tough time.
