#328 Zahra and her dad

Request: Donations / Clothes and toys from a wishlist / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a single dad and his 4 year old daughter, Zahra.

Until last year, Zahra was living with both of her parents. But her mum sadly has alcohol and mental health problems and it became impossible for Zahra and her dad to stay there, so the council has moved them into temporary accommodation. It meant Zahra had to move schools, and her dad had to leave his job to look after her.

They were nominated by Zahra's social worker, who told us that as well as caring for Zahra, her dad also still helps to look after his wife and her elderly father.

The deputy head teacher at Zahra’s school said: “Zahra and her dad show strength every day. He is kind and always makes sure his daughter is well cared for. I think it would be nice for someone to do something for him for a change.“

The property they have moved into is very bare and they can't afford to get the things they need. We’d love to help them make it a home.

What We Need

1. Donations: We'll use your donation to buy furniture for Zahra and her dad, as well as some warm clothes for her mum.

2. Gifts from a wishlist: We've set up a small wishlist with some new clothes and toys for Zahra, as well some bedding and small household items. To buy a gift from the wishlist, please click the link below. Your gift will be sent directly to the family (just tick 'this is a gift' and select 'gift registry address' at checkout). The list is only a small one this week, so if it's empty it means kind people have already bought everything they need!

3. Kind messages: To send a message for Zahra and her dad, please write it in the form below and we will pass it along (your contact details will not be shared), or you can post a card or message to: 52 Lives (Life # 328), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT.

What We Did

Thank you so much to everyone who helped Zahra and her dad. We raised enough funds to buy them everything they needed, as well as clothes and toys for Zahra.
You’ve helped Zahra’s dad to make their new little flat feel more like a home for her and he is so grateful to you all.
