#306 Joe

Request: Donations / Gifts from a wishlist / Messages

This week, we’d like to help a man called Joe, who is a single father of 3 children.

Joe's ex-partner was using drugs, and he was worried about the children so applied to the courts to care for them full-time – which was granted. Their mum is able to see them for a few hours each week now, and is working with drug and alcohol services to try to get better.

Joe used to work as a caretaker, but had to leave his job to look after the children. He was receiving benefits, but these recently stopped as he hadn't completed a form that was sent to him. Joe isn’t able to read or write, so reapplying for his benefits has taken some time and the long delay has left him struggling.

Joe was nominated by a social worker, who told us that Joe doesn’t have a cooker, his children’s bedroom furniture is old and broken, and the delay in his benefits has meant he isn’t able to provide all the things they need. He's doing his best, but he really needs some support.

We’d like to help.

What We Need

1. Donations: We'll use your donations to buy a cooker, beds, and anything else they need. 100% of what you give will be used to help them. To make a donation online, click the link below, or you can donate by text using the details in the box provided.

2. Gifts from a wishlist:  Joe's children are also in need of some bedding, toys and books, so we've set up a wishlist filled with all of these things. To buy something from the list, please click the link below. Your gift will be sent directly to the family (just tick 'this is a gift' and select 'gift registry address' at checkout).

3. Kind messages: To send a kind message for us to share with Joe, please write it in the form below (your contact details will not be used or shared). You can also send a message by post to 52 Lives (Life # 306), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT.

WHAT WE DID

In just one week, you bought his children all the toys, books and bedding from the wishlist. You also donated enough funds so we could provide everything else they needed.

It means Joe now has a cooker and can make hot meals for his children. They no longer have to sleep in broken beds and they have a place to store all their clothes. They even have vouchers so they can go shopping for some new clothes and shoes - something they never would have been able to do without your kindness.

Thank you so much for helping this family. Joe said he will be forever grateful to you all.
