#303 Edmund and Jenny

Request: Donations / Gifts / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a 3 year old boy called Edmund and his mum, Jenny.

Edmund’s dad had cancer and sadly died just before Christmas. He and his mum have been living in a small flat above a shop, with no outside space.

It’s been really tough on Edmund. He is autistic and is non-verbal. He has no awareness of danger and needs constant 1 to 1 support. He also desperately needs outdoor space, so lockdown was particularly hard for both of them. Edmund was cooped up and frustrated, and Jenny was grieving and trying to care for him on her own

Their support worker has managed to help them to secure a council house with a small garden, which is great news. But they are due to move in next week and it has no cooker and no carpet.

We’d like to help with these things, and also provide some toys and sensory items for Edmund’s new garden

What We Need

1. Donations: We'll use your donation to pay for the essential things they need for their new council house, as well as anything Edmund needs for the garden. Any funds we raise above this will be used to help them in other ways.

2. Gifts: We've set up a wishlist with some of the things they need. To buy a gift, click the link below. You will be taken to Amazon where you can choose a gift that will be sent directly to the family.

3. Kind messages: To send a kind message for Edmund or Jenny, please either post it to 52 Lives (Life # 303), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT, or email it by using the form below (your contact details will not be passed on).

Thanks to all of you, we raised more than £2000 so Edmund and his mum now have everything they need. They have carpet, the fence work is about to get underway and you also bought Edmund new sensory toys, clothes and things for his bedroom.

His mum was so overwhelmed by everything you’ve done for them...and said the kind messages you sent had her in tears.

Thank you all so much for going above and beyond for the people we help. One of our lovely supporters- Kim Mears – even created a symbols folder to help Edmund communicate.

You’ve all made such a massive difference to their lives.
