This week, we’d like to help two young children, Jacob (2) and Evie (4).
Their mum is struggling with her mental health, after leaving a violent relationship. It left her shaken and completely destroyed her confidence.
While she was with him, they fell into debt after trying to replace things he broke. That debt has been left with her, and he doesn’t provide any financial support for her and the children at all.
Every spare penny she has goes to repaying the debt, which means she has no money leftover to buy the things the children need. They have no carpet on their bedroom floor, and their clothes and shoes don’t fit. The three of them all share one small wardrobe, and the mum is sleeping on a broken bed.
The mum is doing everything she can to get her life back together. She is getting help from mental health services, and she also has an employment adviser, who is working with her to get her ready to go back to work once the children are at school. But she really needs more help to make life better for the children, and we’d like to provide it.
