#283 Bill and Sunny

Request: Donations / Gifts from a wishlist / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a couple called Bill and Sunny, and their grandchildren, Jack and William (aged 10 and 13).

The boys were severely neglected by their mother so she is no longer allowed to have any contact with them. Jack and William are still traumatised by what happened to them - they're hurt and angry. They've just started counselling to help them deal with everything.

Bill and Sunny agreed to take custody of their grandsons to avoid them going into the care system. They were nominated by a social worker, who said they are lovely grandparents who want to do everything they can to help the boys – but they are struggling financially and it's a lot for them take on. They’ve been worried about how they will afford the things the boys need, especially the initial extra furniture and clothing.

Bill and Sunny are very proud and have been reluctant to ask for any help, but their social worker saw the need and convinced them to allow us to help. With your support, we’d love to provide some bedroom furniture, as well as bikes and clothes, to help them set up a new home for Jack and William, without having to worry about the cost.

What We Did

We raised more £2000 to provide everything the boys needed, and every item was bought from their wishlist. We were able to redo their bedrooms, repair their doors, provide toys and books, and even had a bike donated by the kind people at Halfords. Thank you all so much for helping them. As well as the donations, we also received so many kind messages. It's made a big difference to their life.

They said: "I really do not have the words to express my gratitude for the kind gifts and important items, such as furniture/carpets/doors, that will take the reminders of past events away from the boys. I hope that it will give them a sense of hope that there are people out there that will help and support them. The generosity is overwhelming. The messages are so lovely...I could never have imagined that so many people would have chosen to help us and to make a difference to the boys’ lives."
