#280 Leonie

Request: Donations / Gifts from a wishlist / Kind messages

This week, we’d like to help a 14 year old girl from Wales, who has just left her family home to escape physical, sexual and emotional abuse from multiple family members. She was also exposed to drugs and hasn’t been to school in three years.

Social workers have arranged for Leonie to move in with her elderly aunt in another part of the country. She will be staying there indefinitely.

Her aunt is wonderful and has welcomed her with open arms, but her home is very small and she doesn’t have any of the things Leonie needs - or the money to buy them.

Her support worker said: “Her auntie is going to help her to rebuild her life, provide her with the emotional support she needs, the education she deserves and the stability she so desperately requires.”

With your help, we’d love to help give Leonie a fresh start with all the things she needs – bedroom furniture, school uniform, clothing, and some space of her own.

What We Need

1. Donations: We will use your donation to buy some of the bigger items Leonie needs, and also help her aunt to buy some kind of small summer house for the garden, which she is hoping will give Leonie some space to be on her own when she needs it, as there is very little room inside.

2. Gifts from a wishlist: We've set up a wishlist with some of the smaller items Leonie needs. To buy something from the wishlist, please click the link below. The item you choose will be sent directly to Leonie. There are only a small number of items on this list this week, so if the list is empty, please consider making a donation instead.

3. Kind messages: Leonie has been through far too much, especially for someone so young. We'd love to send her kind messages to let her know there are lots of people out there thinking of her and wishing her well. To send a message, you can either post it to : 52 Lives (Life 280), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT or write your message in the form below, and we will pass it along to her (your contact details will not be shared).

What We Did

Thanks to all of you, every item was bought from her wishlist and we also raised over £2000! We’ve been able to buy her furniture, bedding, curtains, clothes, school supplies, school uniform and shoes. We were also able to fulfil her aunt’s wish to build a small summer house in the garden, to give Leonie a space to call her own. We’ve also send her all of your kind messages.

Leonie has been through a horrifying few years, and your kindness has meant the world to her. Thank you all so much.
