#249 Hayley

Request: Donations / Gifts / Messages

This week, we’d like to help a woman called Hayley who has sadly lost two babies.

Her eldest child died at birth as the cord was wrapped around her neck. Hayley was devastated. During Hayley’s second pregnancy, she was anxious and desperate for her baby to be born safe and well. Just before her due date, Hayley’s second baby suffered from an infection in the womb and was stillborn.

During her third pregnancy, Hayley’s anxiety levels were severe, to the point where she couldn’t even leave the house. Thankfully, her daughter was born healthy. But shortly after, Hayley was diagnosed with PTSD. She blames herself for the loss of her first two babies, and it has affected every part of her life. She lost her job, has night terrors and struggles to function. The family was already struggling after Hayley lost her job, and then her husband (who works at a fast food chain) and was furloughed. At the same time, their washing machine and boiler both broke down. So they’ve been without both of those things for months.

Hayley’s mental health worker said she is an incredibly compassionate woman, but struggles to believe that she is deserving of help or kindness.

We’d love to show her that she is.

What We Did

You bought every item on the wishlist and donated over £1000 to help them. Their overdue bills are paid, their little girl now has a proper bed and new mattress (plus some toys and books put away for her birthday and Christmas).

You also sent her a homemade patchwork quilt, a personalised notebook (thank you Lynn), homemade clothes for her daughter (thank you @MoonbowHomeSewn) and so many other lovely gifts.

A lot of you also sent her kind messages...some that shared your own stories of loss. It meant so much to her and helped her know that she’s not alone. It’s given her the courage to be more open about her struggles.

Thank you all so much for making this possible.
