#236 Andy

Request: Donations towards a bed and furniture / Gifts from a wishlist / Messages

This week, we’d like to help Andy, a 13 year old boy from East London. Andy is a young carer for his mum, who has disabilities and experiences severe bouts of depression. They live on the top floor of a block of flats with no lift, which is incredibly difficult for his mum, so she relies on Andy to do a lot for her.

On top of this, Andy has his own health worries. He has been having issues with his heart and has been undergoing a series of tests at Great Ormond Street.

At home, Andy sleeps on a mattress on bare concrete floor. They don’t have a table or chairs, and their sofa is falling to pieces. He has also been having behavioural difficulties at school. This is a family very much in need of some kindness, and we’d like to do what we can to help.

What We Need

1. Donations: Your donation will help to buy Andy a bed and mattress. Any funds we raise above what we need for the bed will be used to buy the other furniture the family needs, and to help them in whatever way we can.  100% of what you donate will be used to help them.

2. Gifts from a wishlist: We've set up an Amazon wishlist filled with bedding, some floor tiles to cover their concrete floor,  as well as some toys and games for Andy. To buy a gift from the wishlist, please click the link below. It will be sent directly to the family. (Please note the gift list address that comes up will be 'B.W - London')

3. Cards and Messages: To send Andy and his mum a kind message, please write your message in the form below (your contact details will not be passed on). Or if you would like to post a message, please send it to: 52 Lives (Life 236), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT

What We Did

In just a few days we have raised £2400 and every item has been bought from the wishlist!

This is the room Andy currently sleeps in. Thanks to all of you, it will soon have proper flooring, a new bed and mattress, warm bedding, a bedside table, and a computer for him to do his schoolwork on. We’ve also bought lots of other things they needed, and arranged for some grocery deliveries so Andy won’t have to go out to buy food.

With everything that’s going on in the world at the moment, it's incredible that we have managed to more than double the target this week. Thank you all so much. His mum still can’t believe this is happening. They’ve struggled so much for so long and your kindness has helped to make both of their lives so much better. Thank you to everyone who helped, and thank you Gala Bingo for your incredible fundraising.
