This week, we’d like to help change the life of a mother and her newborn baby girl.
Naomi recently left her husband after years of abuse. He was emotional and physically abusive to both her and her 3 older children – at one point he attempted to strangled her, leaving her with bruising around her neck for weeks. When Naomi decided to leave, she was heavily pregnant. She became homeless, had to leave her job, county, had no money and no family to turn to.
The police and social services are involved and Naomi now has accommodation for her and her 4 children. Her beautiful baby girl was born safe and healthy 3 weeks ago.
The house Naomi is living in is freezing cold and has no curtains and no flooring. She also has very little for her baby.
With your help, we would love to do something kind for her.
What We Did
Thanks to all of you, we raised more than £1400 to buy Naomi carpet, curtains and furnishings for her flat. Some lovely supporters also sent her £215 in Mothercare gift cards (Naomi, Anne and Joelle, Sharon, Andrea, Paula, Sally, Rebecca, Catherine and Sophie) and every single item was bought from the Amazon wishlist we set up for her, so she now has clothing for her baby, toys, a playmat, changing bag, a baby monitor, a car seat, bedding and a baby carrier. The wonderful people at Snüz donated a Snuzpod bedside crib and bedding, and The Little Green Sheep donated some beautiful baby clothes.
We also received some lovely donated items from Jodie, Sam, Emma and Siobhan, as well as so many kind messages of support.
Thank you to everyone who bought items, send a gift card, made a donation or sent a message for Naomi. Your kindness has meant so much to her, and helped her to feel like she isn’t alone anymore.
