This week, we’d like to change the life of a 7 year old boy from Kent called TJ.
TJ has severe disabilities (he has Pitt Hopkins Syndrome). He can’t speak, can only eat blended food, is in a wheelchair and has severe developmental delays. He is cared for by his mum, Melissa, with the help of his older sister, who is classed as a young carer due to everything she does to support her little brother – even getting up during the night to help her mum lift him back into bed. TJ also has a 12 year old sister.
TJ is in desperate need of a new bed that’s suitable for him. He falls out of his current bed all through the night, and his mum has injured her back from constantly having to lift him. TJ also throws himself back onto the walls, hurting himself. They have found a specialist bed that would solve all of these problems and keep TJ comfortable and safe, but it comes with a huge price tag.
TJ’s social worker told me that this bed will change TJ’s life.
Melissa is holding so many little fundraisers to try to raise the money…selling sweets, sponsored walks....anything and everything she can think of. She has raised a couple of thousand pounds so far, but she has a long way to go. With your help, we’d like to help get her within reach of her target.
As well as helping TJ, we’d also like to do something kind for TJ’s sisters, who have made a lot of sacrifices over the years to help their little brother. With your help, we can spread some much-needed kindness to the whole family.
