#162 Homeless teenagers

Request: Household goods / Messages

This week, we’d like to help two teenage boys from Wales to start a fresh life for themselves.

Both boys had very difficult childhoods, to the point where social services took the decision to take them into care – one was taken into care at 12 and the other at 15.

They have both have spent the past 12 months living in supported accommodation with the Llamau homeless charity, learning independent living skills to get them ready for the next part of their life. Their support worker said these young men face enormous challenges, and have very little family support or encouragement. But they have worked hard, and have even started college.

They will both soon be moving out of the homeless project and into their own accommodation for the first time in their lives. But they are starting with nothing.

These boys haven’t been given very much in life… but with your help, we want to give them all the things they’ll need to make a home of their own, and give them the best start possible. We also want to give them all the love and support we can, to let them know there are people who care about them and who are willing them to do well.

What We Need

1. Household goods: We have set up an Amazon wishlist, with the help of the two young men and their support workers...filled with everything they'll need to start setting up their home. We have also included some gift cards, which their support workers will use to buy any others things the men need that we haven't thought of.

2. Messages of support: A few words of encouragement and support can mean so much. To send a message to these men, please write your message in the form below and we will pass them all along (your email address will be withheld). Or if you would like to send a message by post, please send it to: 52 Lives (Life 162), PO Box 3154, Reading, RG1 9AT (please note, parcels can not be sent to this address).
