52 Lives

#7 Livingstone Primary

Request: Katie

This week our Director of Kindness, Greig, headed to Livingstone Primary School in Bedford and was overwhelmed with the kindness shown by both staff and children.

Greig was immediately greeted with some amazing 52 Lives cupcakes, which the school accountant and long-term 52 Lives supporter, Helen Maculla, had made especially to help raise awareness among her colleagues about the work being done by 52 Lives. Thank you so much Helen!

The School Kindness Workshop was an enormous success and the children were so eager to help support our Life # 7 - Katie, a 13 year old girl from Scotland. Katie has two brothers who have both have autism. Her younger brother also has epilepsy. Katie is an incredible sister and devotes most of her time to helping to care for her brothers . But she rarely does anything for herself, and has been having a bit of a tough time recently. She has a lot of anxiety and has had to be home schooled.

Upon hearing Katie's story, the children were clearly moved and wanted to do all they could to put a smile on Katie's face and let her know that she truly is a selfless and amazing person. The children came up with their own ideas of how to get this message across to Katie and decided upon making gifts, 3D cards with flowers on them, fortune tellers, wrote beautiful letters and also filmed video messages where they spoke openly about how Katie's story made them feel and why they think she's an incredible person.

With kind children like this, the future is in very good hands.

"This is just what she needs...the past month has been hard. She hasn't been at school due to depression, anxiety and insomnia too. We have just found out today she has a heart condition so the love and thoughts are so welcome. Thank you again for all your support and kindness....you and your supporters have shown me an act of kindness can go a long way."
