52 Lives

#2 Winsley School

Request: Spreading kindness to Oliver

This week, we visited Winsley Church of England Primary School near Bath to run a School Kindness Workshop with years 3-6. This school embodies kindness, and has even adopted the 52 Lives concept in their school, helping to change 52 lives as a school community each year!

Our School Kindness Workshops are designed to teach children the importance of being kind, and to empower them by giving a hand-on opportunity for them to help another child, somewhere in the world. We told the children about a little boy called Oliver, who is 6 years old. Oliver has been donating bone marrow and t-cells to help save his big sister's life. He did this at just 5 years of age. Not only did he not complain - he did it happily...proud that he was doing something to help her. When we told the children at Winsley School about Oliver, they wanted to do something to let him know they he's pretty special and very brave.

What They Did

1. Wrote beautiful cards, poems and stories for Oliver

"You're a hero Oliver!"

"Not many people who have been as brave as you"

"I think it's amazing what you did for your sister"

"They'll have to call you Legendary Oliver now!"

2. Donated some of their cake sale money to buy Oliver some cinema tickets

3. Sent lovely video messages to Oliver
