#356 Lynda and Ethan

Request: Donations for carpet / Gifts / Messages

This week, we’d like to help a woman called Lynda and her 6 year old son, Ethan.

Ethan has disabilities and requires full-time care from his mum. He has cerebral palsy, severe learning difficulties and asthma, among other things. He goes to a special school and needs a high level of care.

Ethan’s dad was violent, so they had to move away and have been on their own ever since. They recently had to move again as the property they were in wasn’t suitable for Ethan’s needs. It had a lot of stairs and Lynda’s already-bad back got much worse from carrying him up and down all the time.

Ethan isn’t able to walk and prefers to shuffle on his bottom rather than using his wheelchair - which has always been how he gets around the house.

Lynda and Ethan have now moved into a bungalow, which will be better suited to Ethan’s needs as he gets older. But the property has no carpet, which means Ethan is no longer able to shuffle on the floor like he used to. It’s cold, uncomfortable, dangerous and damages his clothes.

It’s causing Ethan lot of distress, which is upsetting for his mum as she isn’t able to afford carpet. With your help, we’d like to carpet their home and also provide Ethan with some new clothes.

What We Did

Thanks to all of you, we raised enough money to carpet their home and you also sent him toys and gift cards for some new clothes.

“Thanks so much to everyone that has donated to us, we now have our new flooring and carpets and it feels like home. Ethan’s shuffling around now - there’s no stopping him and we can now feel warm.”
